The Spark Behind “The Volunteering Experience (TVE)”: How One Outreach Project Shaped My Vision for Deep Creative Arts
Every movement begins with a moment. For me, it was volunteering during the Amuzudeve Easter Outreach Project in Ghana’s Volta Region. That experience helped shape my mindset, clarified my purpose, and ultimately inspired what is now known as “The Volunteering Experience (TVE),” a DCA initiative focused on community impact through creative service.

I believe there’s a unique spirit that comes with volunteering, one that shifts your focus away from yourself and toward the needs of others. It humbles you, empowers you, and compels you to take action that improves lives, communities, and the world around you. Once you experience that shift, it’s hard to turn back. It changes your mindset, fuels your passion, and transforms your attitude toward life and leadership.
I had the privilege of volunteering with the NeedBe Foundation, in partnership with Everyday People GH, during their Easter outreach in Amuzudeve. I joined as a trainer, teaching tie-and-dye making to community members, especially the youth, as a way of promoting alternative livelihood skills.
What I thought would be a simple skills session turned out to be a turning point. I began to see more clearly how my creative abilities could serve others, not just in the classroom or studio, but directly in community development. That moment birthed the vision for The Volunteering Experience (TVE) under Deep Creative Arts (DCA), a platform for empowering others through creative, purpose-driven volunteering.

This outreach experience gave me more than just memories; it gave me clarity. I began to see how art could be a tool for empowerment, skill-building, healing, and youth development. The hands-on work I did with NeedBe and Everyday People GH helped me reimagine what DCA could become: a movement driven by service through creativity.
One of the most meaningful outcomes of the project was the network of volunteers I joined. The relationships I built through that experience have had a lasting influence on my journey, opening doors, sharpening my leadership, and anchoring me in a deeper understanding of purpose.
